Every year brings a plethora of games to play, but which ones stand out above the rest? Every year, we put our collective heads together to decide what the greatest games of the past 12 months were.

And what a year it's been. While it's mostly been defined by high-profile sequels and excellent ports, there have also been some new IPs that grabbed us as well.

RPGFan's Games of the Year 2017

01/23/18 2017 had more must-play titles across every genre than most years in recent memory. That so many of them would be RPG, adventure games, and visual novels works out well for us! As always, we have Editors' Awards, full Category Awards (with new awards this year), and are featuring year in review editions of both Random Encounter and Retro Encounter.
