2014 has proven to be an eclectic year in terms of selecting not only our award winning games, but even the award categories themselves. You will notice some changes in our categories from last year, namely some new ones added and some old ones omitted, but all worthy of your discerning attention. As far as games go, this year has been full of surprises. So many games came out this year that there was something for everyone and there wasn't that one "it" game that everyone was playing. 2014 has also been an excellent year for crowdfunding word-of-mouth, and several cool titles that would have never made it beyond the drawing board a few years ago, are now looming on the horizon waiting for us to play them in the near future. Several of 2014's sitewide award winners, and selections in editors' top 5 lists, may not have names immediately recognizable, but these new, young, and hungry IPs bode well for the future of our preferred gaming genre.
