The Born Leader Winner: Commander Shepard
Mass Effect Series (2007-2012)
Regardless of his childhood upbringing or his military history, Commander Shepard, first human Spectre and savior of the Citadel, is doubtless a natural leader. It doesn't hurt either that he's long passed N7-level training, making him at the most elite among Alliance (human) soldiers. Even dying above Alchera doesn't deter him. He's equipped with all the right words and all the right actions to persuade even the fiercest of krogan mercenaries. Miranda Lawson says it best: Shepard has 'that fire that makes someone willing to follow him into hell itself.' His magnetic charisma gains him the unlikeliest of allies, friends, and even lovers. And it is that very charm (or is it intimidation?) combined with his leadership skills that will win him victory over an ancient threat from the edges of the galaxy.

The Born Leader Runner-up: Stocke
Radiant Historia (2011)
At first glance, Stocke may seem like a typically aloof JRPG protagonist who's all business all the time. However, that is far from true. He is usually placed in charge of small squadrons sent out on dangerous missions and, often never knowing who will be under his lead, he has to instill warmth, confidence, loyalty, and camaraderie in his squadmates in a short time. He knows he cannot get too attached to squad members because of a high turnover rate, but in the brief time he's with them, they have to become tighter than family. Only a born leader can pull that off, and as his responsibilities grow, Stocke rises to the occasion and inspires his charges to put forth 1000% effort for him. Anyone about to go into battle or engage in a risky infiltration mission would have zero doubt in their task with Stocke as their leader, and any ally who has followed Stocke has been willing to take a bullet for him because he is that valuable and endearing a leader.
