AlphaDream, the studio best known for their work on the Mario & Luigi RPG series, has filed for bankruptcy as of October 1st. The studio, which was founded in 2001, found major success with the release of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for the Game Boy Advance, and followed it up with four sequels and two remakes: Partners in Time, Bowser's Inside Story, Dream Team, Paper Jam, Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, and Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey. It appears that, due to poor sales and heavier development costs of late, the studio has been unable to secure further funding.

Mario and Luigi AlphaDream Developer Bankrupt

The Mario & Luigi series is very near and dear to my heart (my username on Twitter and the RPGFan forums has been "IhaveFURY" for years, based on Fawful's iconic catchphrase), so I'm really saddened by this news. Hopefully the developers find their footing, but the future of the property remains uncertain. We'll keep you posted as we learn more.
