Patch 5.1, YoRHa Dark Apocalypse Detailed in New Final Fantasy XIV Live Letter

Square Enix recently held their latest Live Letter broadcast for Final Fantasy XIV, in which the company detailed what fans can expect from Patch 5.1. The next patch is titled "Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty," and will be released in October later this year.
Patch 5.1 will include new main scenario quests that take place after the events of Shadowbringers. Several new features will become available with this update, including a nifty New Game Plus feature. New Game Plus will allow players to revisit previously completed quests from Heavensward, Stormblood, and Shadowbringers when 5.1 drops, with main scenario quests and job roles from A Realm Reborn, side story quests, and Chronicles of a New Era coming later. The player's level will be synced for instanced battles, and they won't get additional quest rewards, but New Game Plus will give players a chance to re-experience story content (including content previously unavailable as part of the Unending Journey).
There's also a new kind of player community, called Fellowships. These are groups of up to 1000 players with similar interests. Players can establish up to 10 Fellowships with no World restrictions (on the same data center), giving it a name and main activity ("casual," "battle," "housing," etc.), and can send a notification to all members using the Fellowship board. Players can also use the Fellowship Finder to quickly and easily join a Fellowship.
Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito were on hand to discuss the new alliance raid series, YoRHa Dark Apocalypse, which is based on the beloved action-RPG NieR Automata. The first installment of this raid is "The Copied Factory," and new artwork from the raid was shown off during the presentation. Apparently the idea for the raid began when Naoki Yoshida and Yoko Taro went to a steakhouse together, with Taro joking that he thought the XIV development team hated him until Yoshida made the offer. NieR composer Keiichi Okabe also offered a preview of the new music coming to YoRHa Dark Apocalypse, which is an entrancing medley of NieR and Final Fantasy motifs.
