Oninaki feels like a very different Tokyo RPG Factory game. It's a game that's not immediately inspired by classics of the past, and is the studios first foray into action combat. The studio have tried to capture the magic of the RPG classics but have fallen short of expectations every time. Their ideas always sound good and their artwork is always stunning, so does Oninaki buck the trend?
I'd never been interested in a Tokyo RPG Factory game before this one, so after I largely enjoyed the demo, I was excited to see just how the full package was going to turn out. Sadly, it's more of the same for this studio: some great concepts on paper, but lots of unfulfilled promise and potential. To find out exactly what they've missed, check out my review of Oninaki right here! The game is out for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC via Steam tomorrow, August 22nd!
