Video games have been an integral part of my life. My first vivid memory is of me sitting down at 3 years old with the Sega Megadrive (which you may know as the Genesis) playing Sonic 3. My first RPG was an emulated copy of Pokémon Yellow, where I would spend most of the game arguing with my brother as to what Pokémon should be in the party. It wasn't until I was 7, with my copies of Final Fantasy IX and Skies of Arcadia, that I began my own RPG journey, with no end in sight yet.
RPGs have the ability, like a book, to grab me by the heart, hold me to ransom, and really get me involved in the world they present. The genre is the ultimate form of escapism for me. They've taught me valuable lessons, and enhanced my passion for storytelling. Perhaps my writing here will allow me to give something back, to show my appreciation for these video games that have shaped me into who I am.
I am not just restricted to RPGs, of course. I am a big fan of platforming, action, and fighting games too. I am always open to new games, and always ready for new adventures, series, and stories to come into my collection. Being from the UK, of course, I have missed out on a few gems, and much of my later gaming life has been spent catching up on all the glorious 80s and 90s RPGs that I have missed out on.
Outside of this, my other interests include baking and cooking, music (video game music of course), films, hanging out with friends, or just getting out, alone, getting some headspace, and most importantly, reading and writing. These latter two are part of my being, what keeps me up and going every day. I have just graduated from university with a BA in English, which shows just how much I enjoy reading, analyzing, and writing about it. Writing allows me to share a little piece of myself with the world, which I hope others will enjoy!
