If you're going to explore a prison city, you'll need connections.

Falcom recently released a bunch of new screenshots for their upcoming action-RPG Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, detailing various characters encountered within the game. The first of these, Aprilis, has already been prominently featured in the game's promotional art: she's the hooded figure seen in the game's announcement. She has an artificial arm and leg, and has a "cool-headed attitude" and "overwhelming dignity" in spite of her young age.
Next we have Carla and Kilysha, two sisters who have joined up with the Pendleton merchant organization. Carla works at the main office of the company after being appointed by her father, Riche, and is "hungry for the future." By comparison, Kilysha is shy and withdrawn, and has unwittingly developed a complex regarding her far more successful sibling. As for their father, Riche is a shrewd and ruthless man who has major influence in the prison city of Baldeux.
Next up is Parks, a carefree middle-aged fellow who has been incarcerated. He gives Adol information on the prison, but seeing as he was arrested for fraud and for lying about his past... can anyone really trust anything he says?
Last up are Yufa and Chante. Yufa is a waitress at the Dandelion bar, and Chante is the proprietor. She's known for being cheerful and hard-working, but she's under a lot of pressure as she tries to support her younger siblings. Meanwhile, Chante is a drag queen who has a wide ring of friends in the city, and is therefore privy to a lot of information about Baldeux and its relationship to the Romun Empire.
