Hidetaka Miyazaki Gives New Details on Elden Ring
"A natural evolution" of Dark Souls. 06.22.19 - 11:00 PM Famed game director Hidetaka Miyazaki has given new details about Elden Ring in an interview with IGN. Miyazaki confirmed that the game would be a third-person action RPG and will be of a similar "genre" to Dark Souls, though there will be differences. The main change seems to be centered around the inclusion of a vaster, more open game world. Miyazaki believes this will enhance how players explore in the game, giving them more freedom and bringing depth to the lore in a way he believes the previous games couldn't. Commenting on the relationship of his collaboration with George R.R. Martin, Miyazaki confirmed that the widely read fantasy author wrote the lore of the game that took place ages before the actual events of the story. He believed that this would give Martin more freedom to develop the world without being restricted by what the player could do in it. The player will figure out the lore in a similar way to past From Software titles, slowly piecing it together through exploration. Check the full IGN interview here. Elden Ring is being developed for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. No release date has been announced. For more updates on Elden Ring and other From Software games, keep an eye on RPGFan.
