Square Enix has released some new information about the upcoming final piece of Final Fantasy XV DLC, Episode Ardyn. In it, XV's surprisingly compelling antagonist will shed more light on his tragic backstory, and wield a unique array of sinister powers in battle.
Episode Ardyn takes place 35 years before the events of the main game, following Ardyn's release from his 2000-year-long imprisonment. After being discovered by the Niflheim Empire and discovering a "certain truth," Ardyn sets out to infiltrate the crown city of Insomnia and claim his revenge. Episode Ardyn will feature returning faces from XV, including King Regis and a young Verstael, as well as newcomers Aera Mils Fleuret (Ardyn's lost love) and Somnus Lucis Caelum (Ardyn's younger brother).
Gameplay-wise, Ardyn wields the power of Daemons. He is able to freely move across various points of the map at high speeds, known as his "Shadow Walk" ability. Ardyn can also Shadow Walk in battle to catch enemies unawares and more easily land a back-attack. By successfully landing a full combo, Ardyn can instantly defeat an enemy with "Daemonification," which transforms his foes into Daemons and renders them powerless.
