Square Enix announced during the opening keynote address at the Paris fan festival that the latest expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, titled Shadowbringers, will debut on July 2nd. During the presentation, the game's director, Naoki Yoshida, took to the stage to offer more insight into what fans can expect from this latest offering.

First off, there's an extended version of Shadowbringers' trailer, which you can watch below.

Looks cool, huh? Two major selling points of the Shadowbringers expansion are the additions of the gunbreaker class and the playable Viera race. The gunbreaker is a tank class that uses the iconic Gunblade weapon (which Yoshida was seen lugging around during the presentation). Meanwhile, the Viera are a bunny-like race that ought to be familiar to any fan of Square Enix's Ivalice setting. You can see brief videos of both the gunbreaker class and the Viera race down below.

YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse

A follow-up to the popular Return to Ivalice raids is also coming to Shadowbringers. This time, the subject of these raid will be the NieR franchise. Yosuke Saito and Yoko Taro will both be working on the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse content.
