Microsoft Acquires Both Obsidian Entertainment and InXile Entertainment
This is fine. 11.10.18 - 10:20 PM Microsoft has acquired noted WRPG developers Obsidian Entertainment (Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity) and InXile Entertainment (Shadowrun Returns, Wasteland 2). This information has been rumored for a little while now, but was confirmed at Microsoft's Inside Xbox: X018 event. In a press release regarding the acquisition, Microsoft noted that, "while they do share a common heritage, the two creative teams at Obsidian and inXile are very different... as part of Microsoft Studios, Obsidian and inXile will have the support and freedom to fully realize their creative ambitions on both existing franchises and new RPG projects." Considering Microsoft's penchant for chewing up studios and spitting out the bones, I'm sure this will turn out fine for everyone involved. Stay tuned to RPGFan for more information regarding Obsidian Entertainment and InXile Entertainment's games.
