Okay, so we've been slacking a bit on covering Left Alive, the upcoming shooter from Square Enix, and I apologize for that. Hey, it's not my fault that there are too many games coming out these days! But Left Alive has a pretty impressive pedigree behind it: it's a new game set in the Front Mission universe, for one, which mean it has Wanzers. Who doesn't love Wanzers? It's also got the talents of Metal Gear Solid artist Yoji Shinkawa, Xenoblade Chronicles X's Takayuki Yanase, and Armored Core's Toshifumi Nabesmima. That's a whole lot of mecha experience.

You can find the above, and a whole bevy of other screenshots, in our gallery. The game features three protagonists who have been left behind enemy lines and must fight to survive. The game is being billed as a "survival action game" set in the Front Mission universe, where players will have to scrounge for scant bullets and plan tactically to fight against mobs of enemies, including setting traps for them. Along the way, a vast conspiracy will be unveiled. You can find a brief plot synopsis below.

December, 2127.

The Garmoniya Republic, which is situated next to the Black Sea, suddenly declared war against its neighboring country, the Ruthenia Republic.

The invasion of the border city Novo Slava had begun.

The Ruthenia Army's defense force, which were hit by the surprise attack, completely collapsed, and the battle seemed to end in the blink of an eye.

However, the adjacent battle for those left behind in the aftermath of the war is about to begin.

Left Alive is due to release on February 28th, 2019 in Japan for PlayStation 4, and for PS4 and PC in North America some other time in 2019. I don't know about you guys, but I think Left Alive looks seriously awesome. And it's nice to see Square giving Front Mission some love! But what do you all think?
