Final Fantasy VII Remake Listed As "Action Game" in New Job Posting
Nobody panic! 08.05.18 - 11:27 PM Square Enix is developing the Final Fantasy VII Remake as an "action game," according to a recent job posting for the project. Of course, this in and of itself isn't "news," per se, as the direction of the remake has been apparent since its announcement, and the term "action game" is more of a general term in the Japanese gaming industry. So, nobody panic, yet! The job listing in question is for a VFX designer position working on the Final Fantasy VII Remake. This position will "will carry the core of Final Fantasy VII Remake that is being remade as an action game," and will "challenge the world" with a new take on Final Fantasy. Experience with Unreal Engine 4 seems to be the real clincher here, although it's not required: VFX experience, MAYA and Photoshop skills, and experience with 3D game effects are. While I'm sure there are fans of Final Fantasy VII who would like to see classic turn-based combat make a return (I speak from the heart, here), there's no reason a different approach couldn't work. Here's hoping we see the results of Square's labor soon enough. Stay tuned to RPGFan for more updates on the Final Fantasy VII Remake!
