The Phantasy Star series has been around in various forms for thirty years now, and Sega is celebrating with the announcement of a brand-new mobile RPG, entitled Idola Phantasy Star Saga. This new game will be available for Japanese smart devices in 2018, with pre-registration now available via the game's official website. Key staff members from Phantasy Star Online 2's development team are working on the project.
Check out the announcement trailer and plot synopsis below!
The latest entry in the Phantasy Star series that has been played by 10 million people.
The story is set in the war-ravaged land of Vandoll. In this world ruled by swords and magic, the people spend each day fighting the mysterious, huge monsters known as "Idola" that wander about and threaten their livelihood.
Meanwhile, a god of destruction sealed long ago known as "Dark Farce" has begun the stages of its resurrection.
Will you be able to stop Dark Farce's resurrection? And what is the true nature of the Idola that descended from Dark Farce?
Protagonist-kun! The hero of Idola Phantasy Star Saga is one Yuri, a young man who was raised by the captain of a ship after losing both of his parents. He has a cheerful personality. After meeting the heroine Stella, he joins her White Sheep Knights as leader of their "commando unit."
Speaking of Stella, she is the head of the White Sheep Knights that fight against the encroaching Idola. She has a brash and confident personality when her face is hidden behind her iron mask: said confidence gives way to shyness when the mask is removed.
Combat in Idola Phantasy Star Saga will be command-based, with an "entirely new" system that will be detailed at a later date. Two in-game camps, Law and Chaos, will feature prominently in the game's features, with characters representing one or the other. Battles against the Idola (deadly servants of Dark Farce that have appeared) will serve as highlights of the experience.
Pre-registration for the game is available now, and there is an incentive for doing so: should pre-registrations reach 100,000 users, all players will be rewarded with a five-star Quna (from Phantasy Star Online 2), which comes with its own unique story content.
