Now that E3 2018 has come and gone with nary a mention of the illusive Final Fantasy VII Remake, fans may be wondering about the status of the project. Fear not, as in a recent interview with Weekly Famitsu, director Tetsuya Nomura provided an update about the development of Final Fantasy VII Remake, saying that it is "going well" so far.
"We’re trying to figure out when we will put out the next news release... development is moving along more than expected, so please wait for the next news release with peace of mind."
Well, there you have it. Nomura also said that the characters from Avalanche would receive more development, while the main scenario would preserve the atmosphere of the original. The direction of the Final Fantasy VII Remake was decided upon before the switch to internal development, and has reportedly been proceeding smoothly since. Here's hoping we learn more soon!
