Both it and the Windows Edition will have new content for players to enjoy.
01.16.18 - 10:22 AM

Recently, we reported on the possibly impending announcement of a Final Fantasy XV "complete collection" that would come bundled with all of the games DLC. Square Enix has decided to do us one better: both the newly announced Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition and previously announced Windows Edition will come with new gameplay and story content, in addition to containing all previously released DLC and updates (and some sweet new Amano artwork!).

The newly announced content includes an expanded Insomnia City Ruins map, which comes loaded with new sidequests and bosses. Players will be able to take on Cerberus (finally!), Omega, and the Rulers of Yore as boss encounters. Other new features include a playable Royal Vessel, allowing players to freely sail the sea between Cape Caem and Altissa, and the "Armiger Unleashed," a new version of Noctis' Armiger ability that can be unlocked once players have successfully gathered all of the Royal Arms. A first person camera mode is also being added, as well as a ques involving the Regalia Type-D and the ability to freely peruse the Cosmogony stories.

Both the Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition and Windows Edition will be available March 6th. PC gamers who pre-order the Windows Edition as soon as February 1st will be eligible for a variety of pre-order bonuses. For those of us who already have played the base Final Fantasy XV game, all of the new Royal Edition content will be available as a downloadable "Royal Pack," pricing of which is unannounced.

Square Enix will also be releasing an expanded soundtrack release with all of the original music included in XV's add-ons.

Update @ 5:15pm PST: When this news broke earlier, Square Enix had stated the downloadable Royal Pack would cost $19.99 USD, but has since removed mention of price from their press materials. We'll update if and when the company announces an official price point, whether it's soon, or closer to its March 6th release.
