New Details About Shin Megami Tensei V Emerge from Famitsu
This one may be a long ways off, but it's exciting to think about! 10.29.17 - 10:32 PM Following Atlus' recent announcement that Shin Megami Tensei V (the next mainline entry in the popular Shin Megami Tensei franchise) would be making its way to the Nintendo Switch, some new details have emerged from Weekly Famitsu. In an interview with Kazuyuki Yamai, the director of this game who also worked on Shin Megami Tensei IV, it was stated that Shin Megami Tensei V would be a title that tackled the "characteristics of the era," focused on modern fears about the economy, terrorism, and nuclear weapons. The words "Shekinah Glory," literally translated as "miracle of God," appear in the trailer, and players will come to understand their meaning when they play the game. Modern-day Tokyo is represented with the inclusion of Shinagawa Station, which will be involved in the story. Given that the original Shin Megami Tensei is now 25 years old, it was decided that the announcement of V should be made to assure fans that the main series will continue. The team's goal is to provide an experience that combines the "profound appeal" of Nocturne with the mechanical refinements introduced in IV. However, while working with Unreal Engine 4 has expedited the development process, the development team can't quite say that it's "coming soon" and ask players to wait for more information. So stay tuned to RPGFan for more details!
