Final Fantasy XV Has Gone Gold, New "Omen" Trailer And DLC Plans Revealed
Not gonna lie, that trailer might be the most interesting piece of media for XV since 2006. 10.27.16 - 4:22 PM At the Paris Games Week, Square Enix made several announcements concerning the upcoming Final Fantasy XV. Firstly, director Hajime Tabata revealed that the game had gone gold, meaning that development is complete and the game is now ready for production. This marks the end of what has been a lengthy development cycle, and we are one step closer to experiencing Final Fantasy XV for ourselves. Square also released a brand-new trailer for the game, entitled "Omen." Made in collaboration with Digi pictures, a company which also worked on the CGI film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy, the new trailer depicts a catastrophic future for Noctis' father, King Regis, where Noctis gradually loses his powers and brings harm to Luna in a rapidly changing, twisted landscape. Give it a look below. Square also gave some details on their plans for downloadable content now that development on Final Fantasy XV is complete. There will be four major pieces of DLC, the main focus of which is three episodes devoted to Noctis' party members Gladiolus, Prompto, and Ignis. Each one of these episodes will allow players to control these chartacters, explore new areas, and obtain new weapons that can be used in the main game. Episode Gladiolus will be released first, and we have some pieces of concept art for it in our gallery. Ignis will be released next, followed by Prompto, and after that, an expansion pack featuring an online co-op multiplayer mode entitled "Comrades" will be released. Tabata also stressed that the PS4 Pro version of Final Fantasy XV would look "even more beautiful" on the system, although the team didn't have much time to showcase something satisfying. Nevertheless, the game will support PS4 Pro on its November 29th release date. Stay tuned to RPGFan for more Final Fantasy XV news.
