Nintendo had considered combining Fire Emblem with Pokemon instead of Shin Megami Tensei.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, the crossover between Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei that nobody knew they wanted until they got it in their grubby little mitts, could have turned out very differently. According to the game's producer, Hitoshi Yamagami, Nintendo had originally considered making a crossover between Fire Emblem and Pokémon. The series' mechanics seemed compatible to director Kaori Ando, although the idea was scrapped when The Pokémon Company proposed what would eventually become Pokémon Conquest, a strategy-RPG using wherein Pokémon fought alongside feudal Japanese warlords (no, for real).
