Persona 5 Gets Japanese Release Date, New Trailer

Persona 5 is on the horizon, everybody, and Atlus' recent "Take Tokyo Tower" livestream revealed that the game will launch on September 15th for PS4 and PS3 in Japan, with pre-orders being available beginning on May 6th. In addition, Atlus showed off a brand-new trailer and unveiled a snazzy collector's edition, which you can check out below.

This special edition will cost 13,800 Yen and includes:

  • A copy of Persona 5

  • Persona 5 hardcover art book

  • Five-disc Persona 20th Anniversary All-Time Best Album (includes music from every game in the series including Persona 5)

  • Special Collaboration DLC Set #1: "Orpheus Picaro" and "Izanagi Picaro" Personas and special skill set

  • Special Collaboration DLC Set #2: Persona 3 "Gekkoukan High School Uniform" costumes and Persona 3 battle BGM single set

  • Special Collaboration DLC Set #3: Persona 4 "Yasogami High School Uniform" costumes and Persona 4 battle BGM single set

  • Special Custom Theme illustrated by Shigenori Soejima

  • Special Persona 5 Art treasure box

A few other announcements from the stream included information on the Persona 5 anime, which is now titled Persona 5 the Animation: The Day Breakers (not to be confused with that one vampire movie). This 30-minute special will air in September and is produced by A-1 Pictures. In addition, August 13th will feature the Persona series' first orchestral concert, and there will be a 20th Anniversary Festival at Arts Chiyoda in December. Atlus also confirmed that we will see more Persona 5 at E3 this year, so stay tuned for that.
