IBM Japan Announced Sword Art Online Virtual Reality Project
This can only end well.
03.07.16 - 4:08 AM

The Sword Art Online series has become one of the more popular anime/manga/light novel/video game/tea towel franchises out there, and IBM Japan has announced that they're taking the phenomenon to the next level with a new VR project entitled Sword Art Online: The Beginning. Series creator Reki Kawahara calls it "completely different" from other gaming experiences, as The Beginning is controlled via body movement rather than a traditional controller. This is accomplished via a next-generation computer system called the "Cognitive System" in conjunction with IBM's "SoftLayer" cloud system. Together, these systems allow for human decision making while producing the ambiance of a real world.

A total of 208 applicants will take part in a prototype alpha test in Tokyo starting March 18th.

I can't see how this could possibly end badly. I mean, have they watched the show?
