It's like Geocaching, but with Pokémon!

While Pokémon fans around the globe are waiting with bated breath for the next entry in the series (or still busy playing last year's Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire and trying to catch all of those crazy Legendaries), The Pokémon Company has announced Pokémon Go, a new Smartphone game designed to bring Pokémon to our world.

Before you turn away in abject skepticism—after all, mobile games have a certain stigma attached to them—this actually sounds like a really interesting idea. Pokémon Go will allow players to catch, train, and battle Pokémon during their everyday lives Pokémon Go will use mobile device's location information to to allow players to catch Pokémon in real world locations. Imagine, if you will, finding a wild Bulbasaur at the grocery store, or a Zigzagoon on a walk in the woods. Series creator Junichi Matsuda is contributing to the game's design and music, as well.

Nintendo is also making a Pokémon Go Plus device, which can be worn like a pin or strapped to the wrist. This device will have an LED display and vibration, which notifies players when Pokémon or Trainers are near. You can watch the announcement trailer for Pokémon Go here.
