Star Ocean 5's Combat Similar to Infinite Undiscovery
Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. Plus more info! 07.16.15 - 9:49 PM Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness will have combat similar to that of 2006 Tri-Ace effort Infinite Undiscovery, according to producer Shuichi Kobayashi and programmer Yoshiharu Gotanda in an interview with 4Gamer.net. As reported previously, combat will feature seamless transitions from field to battle, like a finely-tuned version of the base combat from Infinite Undiscovery. Other details form the interview include the confirmation of returning systems such as private actions and item creation, event scenes occurring in the field in addition to cutscenes (so, Skits from the Tales series?), adjustable party member AI, and a fully rotatable camera in combat. Kobayashi also pointed out an interesting trend with the Star Ocean series: each odd-numbered game's protagonist, including Integrity and Faithlessness' Fidel, has blue hair, while even numbered ones have blonde hair. Kobayashi also mentioned that, if there were room for new ideas, he'd be happy to do a Star Ocean 6 or Star Ocean 7. Time will tell, as will the reception of Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness when it comes out on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in Japan this winter, as well as on PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe sometime next year.
