Set between the events of Borderlands 1 & 2, the Pre-Sequel is currently set to arrive on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 14th. However, Tony Lawrence, studio head of 2K Australia (the guys behind the game), has mentioned that "If fans say, 'Hey, we'd really like this on a next-gen console,' well, we'll think about that."
Matt Armstrong, franchise director, continued, "We'll see how people react to the game, how much fun they have and whether or not everybody moves on to the next gen fully next year." But he clarified that the among the technical reasons the game is currently planned for the previous generation of consoles, it's also that he felt "requiring people to buy new hardware to play the middle [game in] a trilogy... feels a little disingenuous."
