SRRN & Konami Bring Ash II: Shadows to the App Store
Surprise sequel debuts, screens and trailer in tow, too!

The App Store is an interesting market. Sometimes we know of upcoming games for weeks or months, though so many times games are just released with little to no info ahead of time. SRRN's Ash sequel was a nice surprise this week, as was the indie group's publishing partner: Konami. I think they make games about castles and gears or something.

Ash released in late 2010 to favorable reviews and just last month underwent a major facelift.

Available today, Ash II: Shadows is a full-fledged sequel that will unfold over six chapters. While the sequel is again set in the world of Aghaus, it features a new story, characters and quests, plus plenty of new equipment and skills. A nice change from the first game, Ash II is a Universal app, designed to run on both the iPhone/iPod touch as well as the iPad.

While Ash II: Shadows will contain six chapters, only one is available at launch. The remaining chapters will be added every two weeks. The game is available in two versions:

Ash II: Shadows (Gold Edition) is $4.99 [iTunes link] and grants access to all six chapters.

Ash II: Shadows (Silver Edition) is $2.99 [iTunes link] and gets you into chapters 1 & 2. Additional chapters will be available for $0.99 each.

It's a versatile pricing model, so it'll be interesting to see which method ends up being gamers' preferred method of purchase. Speaking of purchase, if you haven't played the original Ash, it's currently on sale for only $0.99 [iTunes link].

And while SRRN sent us this news today, I still want to thank reader Jeffrey Zhang for the heads-up earlier today!
