Don't worry, it's for a good reason that they moved it to the Vita.

In case you missed it, a port of PlayStaion 2 RPG Persona 4 was just recently announced for the PlayStation Vita. In an interview with Famitsu, series director Katsura Hashino mentioned that Persona 4: The Golden was originally planned as a PSP title.

The development team didn't like the simplified map used in Persona 3 Portable very much and wanted to keep Persona 4 as close to its original version as possible. Hashino expressed that keeping as true as they wanted to the PS2 title was just not possible on the PSP. Instead they moved to PlayStation Vita where they believed they could create the game and even include features not present in the original. He did mention, however, that there would not be a female protagonist.

Inaba, where the original game takes place, will feature more events and 1.5x more voice acting than in the original. New features will include being able to buy a bike, new opening movie, more personas for the main character, new costumes, and Marie, the mysterious new character. Persona 4: The Golden is set for release in Japan this spring.
