Nomura Talks Kingdom Hearts Series
Tons of belts and zippers in 3D, just what I've always wanted. 09.24.10 - 4:53 PM In a recent interview with Famitsu, Square Enix's Tetsuya Nomura talked about the Kingdom Hearts series and its future, namely the next three planned titles: Birth By Sleep: Final Mix, Re:Coded, and a little bit about Kingdom Hearts 3D. Birth By Sleep: Final Mix for the PlayStation Portable had just been announced at TGS last week, but Nomura provided just a few more details, such as that the 'secret movie' will actually be a brand new one for Final Mix. The previously-mentioned black-clad boss will also be a tie-in to future developments, but it wasn't clear if this meant future Kingdom Hearts titles or another Square Enix franchise. Many of the other additions, aside from Captain Pete, are from the English version of the game. Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded for the DS, meanwhile, is due out in a couple of weeks in Japan. There are some 800 parts available for your avatar, and some will be rare - but if a player has rare parts on their avatar and are in a tag mode exchange with you, you can get those parts as well. Some features in Re:Coded will be familiar from Birth By Sleep, such as the trophy system. There will as usual be a short secret movie in Re:Coded and according to Nomura, you'll need to get about 20 of the game's some 30 trophies to access it. Lastly, Nomura added that the next Kingdom Hearts title after Re:Coded will be Kingdom Hearts 3D (not its final title) for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is in very early stages, and once the Birth By Sleep: Final Mix team finishes with that title, they will also start working on KH 3D. So far there is no set release date for Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded in North America.
