Falcom Talks Ys VS Sora no Kiseki
Company president details Falcom's take on Dissidia. 11.27.09 - 10:07 PM Earlier this week we reported that Nihon Falcom was working on Ys VS Sora no Kiseki, a multiplayer fighting game reminiscent of Dissidia: Final Fantasy and Tales of VS. Now, president Toshihiro Kondou shared his thoughts about his company's newest project with the editors of Japanese magazine Dengeki PlayStation. Kondou explained that the game's development begun, after his developers had finished working on Ys 7. The action genre was virgin territory for Falcom; at the same time, the company had played with the idea of developing a multi-player game for PlayStation Portable for quite some time. Apparently Kondou likes the idea so much that he is already thinking about a sequel. The final cast of fighters has yet to be determined, but there are 40 candidates. Falcom wants to pay as much consideration as possible to its fans' wishes in determining which character will make it into the final product. In addition to one-on-one and two-on-two battles, Falcom is also looking at the possibility of introducing a one versus three battle format. The stages are set to include destructible objects and warp points. Other features include weapons, armor, skills and support characters. Controls will be straight-forward to accommodate the high-paced battle system. In addition to the port of Ys Oath in Felghana and Ys VS Sora no Kiseki, Falcom was preparing another, highly anticipated title for a 2010 release in Japan. Kondou also reiterated his determination to extend Falcom's presence beyond PC, PSP and DS. He didn't name specific hardware platforms, though. Ys VS Sora no Kiseki will be available in Japan sometime next year.
