05.11.04 - 8:10 PM

Even though Nintendo talked a lot about their new handheld system, the company also showed off and mentioned several upcoming titles for the GameCube and Game Boy Advance this morning at the media briefing. The following are titles covered by RPGFan and are being shown this week:

Intelligent Systems-developed Paper Mario 2 for GameCube has received an official North American release date of October 11th and a retail price of $49.99 US.

Also by Intelligent Systems, the GameCube Fire Emblem (known as Fire Emblem: Souen no Kiseki) title is headed for North American shores sometime in 2005. Any other details, including the previously mentioned connectivity to the GBA Fire Emblem title, are not known as of yet.

The final game to be shown at the media briefing was the next The Legend of Zelda title for GameCube, which doesn't yet have an official subtitle. So far the release date is only listed as 2005. A couple of minutes of impressive 3D footage showed Link on horseback fighting enemies and scenes of sunlight shining through a forest as well as the outside of a castle.

On the GBA side of things, Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen have received a release date of September 7th, and a retail price of $39.99 US each.

A new Zelda title for GBA was also finally revealed. Developed by Capcom, The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap has LInk using a magic hat to shrink himself to the size of the Minish people in order to help them. Up to four players can participate using the GBA Wireless Adapter. The title is only listed for a 2005 release.

Nintendo will also show The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures on this year's E3 show floor, as well as many third-party titles such as Namco's Baten Kaitos and Tales of Symphonia and Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, among others. RPGFan will bring you updates and impressions throughout the show this week.
