E3: Nintendo DS RPGs
05.11.04 - 7:47 PM

At Nintendo's press conference this morning, along with the unveiling of their new handheld system - tentatively called the Nintendo DS - a handful of RPGs were quietly announced to be in development for the new system.

As reported earlier, Square Enix is developing a couple games for the system. The first is Egg Monster Heroes, in which players control a general and his troops, and can flip them from behind to make them charge opponents. A second mode of play, titled "Egg Monster Battle," lets players use the DS' touch screen to touch their monsters' bodies to select an attack method while aiming at the weak points of enemies.

In addition, it was revealed that both a Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles game and a new entry in the Dragon Quest Monsters series will both appear on the system in the future.

Capcom is planning a DS title set in the Megaman Battle Network universe, while Namco also has a "new role-playing game" in the works for the system, with no other details known yet.
