Pokémon Y Nuzlocke Challenge: Chapter 3
By Neal Chandran
Pokemon Y Image - Vivillon

Route 5 leads to Camphrier Town; along Route 5, a mild male Pancham with Iron Fist joins Yondu's entourage under the name of Tekken (because of the Iron Fist tournament featured in the Tekken games). Tekken is admitted into the starting lineup and Phoenix Down is benched for now. A double battle with a pair of twins sees Tux evolve into a Vivillon with slick navy blue patterned wings (known as "Polar Pattern") and the Shield Dust ability. Even without the wings, Tux still looks like she's wearing a cool suit, totally living up to her stylin' moniker.

Immediately afterward, Yondu sees Trevor teasing Tierno regarding his one track mind about dancing. In order to soothe his hurt feelings, Tierno challenges Yondu to a battle, which Yondu easily wins, thanks to Josie's soporific Sing move turning Tierno's Corphish into a punching bag. Yondu shakes his head. "Tierno, buddy... if this is your idea of creating the perfect Pokémon Dance Team like you said back in Aquacorde, you need to work, because your pokémon all have two left feet and can't even groove to the music."

Let's come back to Trevor for a second. This kid is supposed to be the smart one of the group, yet he greets Yondu by saying "Good to see you Yondu... Excuse me, I meant Yondu." Ugh, didn't this chowderhead understand that when he and the crew peer-pressured Yondu into choosing a nickname and he replied, "Call me Yondu," that meant no nickname? Yondu has some very choice insults for Trevor, none of which can be repeated in decent company. And of course, Eclector has added Trevor and Tierno to her list of nincompoops she wants to bird bomb.

Frustrated by how stupid his so-called friends are, Yondu forgets to return to Lumiose City's Pokémon Center to heal up and winds up in a trainer battle against rising star Hamish and his Kadabra. This bloodbath sees both Josie and Eclector one-shotted by Kadabra's Confusion attack. Luckily, Confusion did not one-shot Tux, and it's her Struggle Bug that wins the battle.

Poor Josie never had the chance to realize her full potential, especially after her Sing move brought down Tierno's Corphish. Plus, she was such a soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. And that feathered rascal Eclector, who understood Yondu's consternation at dealing with his confounded companions, won't get to bird bomb Shauna, Trevor, and Tierno. So after giving Eclector and Josie proper sendoffs, Yondu presses on with only five pokémon (Mary Poppins, Tux, Phoenix Down, Pip Squeak, and Tekken). It looks like Phoenix Down is the main bird now, with a huge responsibility lying on her wings.

Pokémon Yondu has:
Tekken (Pancham)
Mary Poppins (Fennekin)
Tux (Vivillon)
Phoenix Down (Fletchling)
Pip Squeak (Azurill)
Tekken (Pancham)

Death Toll (Name of Deceased — Cause of Death):
Josie (Skitty) — Rising Star Hamish's Kadabra
Eclector (Pidgey) — Rising Star Hamish's Kadabra
