It seems what kills you does make you stronger.

Spike Chunsoft has updated the Japanese website for Zanki Zero: Last Beginning with new details on the game's reincarnation system, Skills, and base camp features. Though, you probably got that from the Heading… Let's get going.

Reincarnation or "Shigabane"

As mentioned in a previously written article, one of the game's main features is that when characters die, they can gain resistances to what killed them in their next life. That process is called the Shigabane Bonus. If you die by an animal attack, you take less damage from that animal in the future. If you die by poison, you are less susceptible to poison. These effects can be applied depending on the circumstances at the time of death too. If you die by having too much stress, a different effect will occur that makes it harder to die that way. As you continue to progress, it will become harder and harder to die. Eventually, you'll probably only die from old age.

Skills

Like most RPGs, this game has a skill system that will help you get stronger. Unlike most RPGs, the leveling system in this game doesn't actually increase your stats. Instead, you will just get skill points for leveling up. Skills are separated into three categories: battle, exploration, and crafting. Luckily, skills do carry over with each new Extend but in exchange, your stats will be fixed. Well, what I mean is that your stats will be fixed depending on the age of your clone. Skills, equipment, and Shigabane Bonuses is how you develop your character and increase their parameters. Last but not least, there are skills that are only unique to each age group, so have fun with those.

Base Camp

Oh look, a base development function. The best part of any survival game. By gathering materials, you can upgrade your camp and build new facilities. There is the workshop where you can develop and enhance equipment. And there is the kitchen that can cook ingredients and reduce their weight as items. "Reformer Skills" are also needed to upgrade facilities too.
