So many new screens!

About a week ago, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy Explorers on Nintendo 3DS would include the Hunter and Paladin job classes. They've now shared new details on just what these two can do, so let's get into it!

As you might expect, the Paladin is a defence-heavy melee class that plays the role of tank. It has excellent physical and magic defence, but also packs a punch in close-combat. It's not pssicularly mobile though, so moving around quickly restricts potential versatility.

Among its numerous special abilities, one called "Absolute Domain" allows them to put up a barrier that protects themselves and nearby allies. Another, called "Spinning Edge," puts them on the offensive and attacks all surrounding enemies.

As long-range damage powerhouses, Rangers excel at quickly defeating enemies and inflicting status ailments. Their defence is fairly low and, of course, they're in a bit of trouble when the distance between them and their target closes. Among their abilities, one attack called "Abyss Shot" is likely to inflict a status effect, and another called "Arrow Rain" focuses on high damage output.

And notice those numbers inside the crystal in the top-right corner of the screen? This is called "Resonance." Resonance is increased whenever you attack an enemy or help an ally, and higher numbers provide beneficial effects such as increased damage or more potent healing. Resonance drops when you stop using abilities for an extended period.

We also have new details on two different areas. Above you can see Shiva's home: Tinz Lake. At some point in the story, you'll have to confront her and defeat her. She'll employ attacks that hinder your movement, impale you on ice spikes, and, of course, use her signature Diamond Dust.

Below, you can see Libertus, one of the game's primary settlements and your base of operations. This is where the Union operate out of and assign task to explorers. There's also a Moogle tent! Though we don't know yet what they might be up to.

Finally, a limited edition has been announced for release in Japan. Pictured below, it includes the game, a faux leather 3DS XL pouch with the Final Fantasy Explorers logo, a 3DS XL cover with Bahamut on it, a selection of musical tracks, and an art book for 14,040 yen (~$134 US).

As a first print bonus, the game will also come with an additional quest that gives you access to Final Fantasy III's iconic Onion Knight equipment.

Final Fantasy Explorers will be released in Japan on December 18th. No western release has been announced... yet. And make sure to take a look at our updated gallery.
