Including details on game systems, and even more concept art.

It's been a few weeks since we learned of REBORN, a brand-new action RPG from developer Elemental-Labs and publisher Acttil. We knew the plan was to launch a Kickstarter to help the game become reality — which is now happening — but there's more too!

First up, yes, the REBORN Kickstarter campaign is now live, and filled with information on the game itself, media, and a complete look at the many people involved in developing REBORN. Originally, REBORN was announced as a PS3 & PS4 game, which are still the initial target platforms. But because this is Kickstarter, there are several stretch goals that will allow Elemental-Labs to bring the game to other platforms: Specifically, PS Vita, Steam (Windows), and Xbox One. While the initial plan was to launch with a goal of $150,000, Elemental-Labs and Acttil decided to shoot for a higher quality game, and as such, the base funding level is now $200,000.

As for the game itself, REBORN is a sci-fi action RPG built on Unreal Engine 3 (PS3, Vita, Windows) and Unreal Engine 4 (PS4, Xbox One) that blends traditional Japanese elements with cyberpunk and western themes This fascinating combination is one that's apparent by looking at any of REBORN's artwork. In addition to an expected 20-hour (or so) story, REBORN will feature multiplayer elements, the extent of which will depend on funding. Like the best action RPG titles, REBORN will host multiple gameplay systems, including an Augmentation system and License Board, inspired by the likes of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Final Fantasy XII.

There's a ridiculous amount of detail about the game available on its Kickstarter page, so rather than rehash it all here, I encourage you to take a look. While you can see most of them there, we also have plenty of new artwork in our REBORN gallery, such as those seen below:

Elemental-Labs is currently aiming to have REBORN completed in late 2014.
