Nippon Ichi Software has opened the official website for its original PlayStation 3 RPG Last Rebellion. As previously announced, the game is jointly developed by Nippon Ichi Software and HitMaker.

Last Rebellion's story takes place in a world that is dominated by the power of the gods of life and death. The jobs of the Blade and the Sealer, which specialize in dealing physical and mental damage, are said to represent the power of the god of death. The power of the deity of life has a more direct impact on the world, though. It is capable of reviving the dead, including monsters. Monsters that are killed don't remain dead, but unfortunately return as more powerful, immortal beings. The only way to defeat those creatures is to destroy both their body and soul. Therefore, a Blade and a Sealer must join forces to defeat them.

Protagonist Nine is a famous Blade. The 25-year old man is cool and very blunt. 19-year old Aisha is a skilled Sealer. In the past, she couldn't control her powers and caused a major catastrophe. To prevent a re-occurrence of this terrible incident, she has been raised without any contact with the outside world. She also happens to be very proud. Alfred is Nine's step-brother. His personality is completely different from Nine's. Azelride is the country's king and a powerful wizard.

The cooperation between Blade and Sealer is not only important to Last Rebellion's story, but of even greater importance to its gameplay. To progress, the player will have to constantly switch between the two main characters. This counts not only for exploring the field map, but also for the game's turn-based battles. Conveniently enough, switching between the two characters doesn't even take up a turn. By physically attack a monster, it is possible to engrave a seal into it. This seal then becomes the target of a seal magic attack. Executing yet another physical attack allows for attacking and sealing multiple enemies or enemy parts. This strategy is essential to deal as much damage as possible to your opposition.

Last Rebellion is set to go on sale in Japan this winter. Originally announced for a North American release date of sometime this fall, an updated release date hasn't been announced yet.
