Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Set to be Digital-Only
I'm still going to buy it for Squall's pretty facelift.
Often, Final Fantasy VIII is overlooked as the weird middle child of the series back on the PlayStation One. However, with the Final Fantasy VIII Remastered, the game is finally in the spotlight it truly deserves. The spotlight, though, will only be shined on the digital marketplace.
Square Enix Japan revealed the news that Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will release digital-only. This is similar to other Final Fantasy re-releases, such as Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy IX, on modern platforms. Rumors circulated prior to this news about a possible physical release of VIII, but they appear to be unfounded.
On the plus side, 2019 marked the 20th anniversary of Final Fantasy VIII! As of now, the game has sold over 9.6 million copies worldwide!
