This year marks the third anniversary of Mobius Final Fantasy, and Square Enix is planning quite the celebration! Last year's anniversary saw a collaboration between the mobile game and PlayStation 2 classic, Final Fantasy X. In celebration of this year's anniversary, the world of Final Fantasy VIII collides with Mobius in a huge event!
The main character of Final Fantasy VIII, Squall Leonhart, finds himself transported to a different world in the new scenario called The Sleeping Lion. With the cast of Mobius Final Fantasy, Squall learns about this new world's SeeD cadets and witches.
Not only will all players who log in during this event receive Squall and his gunblade Revolver, anyone who logs in also receives a Rinoa skin for Echo. Graff and Meia also receive new Legend Jobs, Sorceress' Knight and Sorceress of Oblivion respectively, by way of a limited-time banner. You will also be able to add Squall to the list of Ultimate Heroes as an Ultimate Skin. Also through a banner, players can acquire the Monk-type Supreme card, Griever: FFVIII, who might look familiar to anyone who beat the original game.
The Final Fantasy VIII collaboration doesn't stop there! A new Draw System will be added to the event that pays homage to FFVIII's original battle system. Choosing the Draw command during battles allows players to build up enemy abilities and throw them back with Cast. Also like Final Fantasy VIII, players will be given a SeeD ranking during the event, granting various rewards depending on their rank. However, if you decide to take on Squall in the multiplayer arena, called the Ring of Braves, teams of players can win even more rewards!
Never played Final Fantasy VIII? Square Enix has your back with other anniversary promotions. Players will receive a free Supreme Ticket (used to summon an Ultimate Hero or Supreme Card), a Graff/Wol "Warriors of Despair" Support Card (designed by The World Ends With You's Gen Kobayashi), and 31 days of free summons throughout the anniversary event.
And that's not all! Until August 13th, MOBIUS Week allows for players to login and receive a myriad of bonuses every day, which includes skillseeds, Ability Tickets, Summon Tickets, Crystals, Mystic Tablets and more. Along with that, you can also earn up to 14 Summon Tickets just for logging in daily. If you haven't played the game in awhile, like more than 30 days, don't worry: Square Enix is offering a Welcome Back Campaign that rewards returning players with 1,000 magicite and 88 Mystic Tablets. Lastly, whoever buys 12,000 magicite receive a Supreme Ticket. But there will also be a 1.5 or more bonus to magicite earning if you want to acquire it the free and old-fashioned way!
The Mobius Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy VIII — The Sleeping Lion collaboration started on August 1st and lasts until November 1st, 2019. Mobius Final Fantasy is available on Android and iOS mobile devices now. Speaking of Final Fantasy VIII, the PlayStation classic is getting a remaster for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime this year!
