Level-5 Announces Yo-kai Watch 4 Headed West
Great news for fans of the series!

During their panel at Anime Expo 2019, Level-5 announced that Yo-kai Watch 4 will release for Nintendo Switch outside of Japan at some point in the future. It's great to see that the series will still reach fans in other territories, despite never reaching the soaring successes the series has achieved in its native Japan.

Nate, Jibanyan, Komasan, and Komajiro meet some of their Shadowside doppelgangers in Yo-kai Watch 4.

A special Japanese trailer with English subtitles was shown off at the event, but as of writing, this trailer has not been made available online. No release timing was announced for the game, and we have yet to learn if Level-5 will handle publishing and localization in other regions, or if Nintendo will once again take up the reins as it has with previous entries.

The three main protagonists expand gameplay in new ways in Yo-kai Watch 4.

In addition to the planned Western release, Level-5 also noted that for players to have the best appreciation for content in Yo-kai Watch 4, they would need to watch some specific movies in the Yo-kai Watch series which have not been released outside of Japan previously. While they were unable to confirm plans for localization or a Western release, the company did express a desire to do so.

Yo-kai Watch 4: We're Looking Up at the Same Sky was released in Japan on June 20th, exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
