Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout Announced
The latest entry in the Atelier series releases this fall in Japan. 05.30.19 - 11:45 AM As another year goes by, so too comes the announcement of a new entry to Gust's Atelier series. The latest entry, titled Atelier Ryza: The Queen of Eternal Darkness and the Secret Hideout, launches in Japan this fall for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch! A PC version was also announced but a release window was not specified. Written by manga creator Yashichiro Takahashi and with new character designer Toridamono, the game follows the coming-of-age story between the strong-willed Ryzalin Staud and her friends. The game's theme of "summer memories" is emphasized by the more realistically proportioned graphics and environments. In fact, Ryza marks a complete overhaul in the series' visuals, a feat that hasn't been done since Atelier Sophie. Development for Ryza started during Atelier Lulua and is said to be 45% complete. You can check out the revamped graphics for Atelier Ryza in the video below: As far as gameplay is concerned, the game will still contain the synthesis-gathering-battle formula the series is known for but revamped. Synthesis will be more streamlined and responsive. Using different tools while gathering ingredients will affect what item is found. The turn-based battle system will be more intense than previous titles with an emphasis on character bonds. Also, characters' abilities will be tied to a skill tree system.
