Persona 4 Golden director will return to work on this upgraded entry!

A new interview with Persona 5 Royal director Daiki Itoh and producer Kazhisa Wada in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu holds some interesting information for fans looking forward to the recently revealed title. From the reasoning behind the game's new subtitle to teasing yet unannounced confidants for the game, it seems that Persona 5 Royal will be every bit the masterpiece that the original title was. Read on below for all of the details!
According to Itoh and Wada, the “Royal” subtitle was chosen to reflect their enthusiasm and excitement for creating this gorgeous game. Not stopping at adding new elements, or the 20 newly added toe-tapping tunes joining the already stellar soundtrack, Persona 5 Royal will also allow players to gain experience points more easily, creating what they believe to be a "better tempo" at which to experience the game.
Expanded play Assist features in Persona 5 Royal will now further implement everyone's voice into the game. These features will consider your character's parameters, as well as your confidants, and will make suggestions for destinations, which you can travel to at the push of a button.
Kasumi Yoshizawa, the newly added character seen in the reveal trailer for the game, will add new perspective and flavor to the story. As a new confidant, Kasumi will blend seamlessly into the story while also shining a new light on existing characters.
Itoh and Wada also commented on Takuto Maruki, a new confidant and student counselor at Shujin Academy, saying that he is "an extremely nice adult character," contrasting with many of the existing adults encounterable in the original game. When asked if other new confidants would coming to Persona 5 Royal, Itoh and Wada said that the answer would be "yes," although fans will need to wait a bit longer to find out more information.
Speaking about the scope of the project, Itoh and Wada said that they’re working to make sure the amount of content in the new third semester will surpass even the expectations of fans who have experienced Persona 4 Golden. Finally, it was revealed that while fans with Persona 5 save data on their system won’t be able to transfer the data to the new release, they will receive some sort of in-game bonus.
A new video series titled "Morgana's Report" has debuted on Atlus' official Japanese YouTube channel which will serve as an outlet for upcoming news on Persona 5 Royal. You can check out the first entries in Morgana's Report below with part two on the way sometime in June.
With all of its upgraded features and bonus content, Persona 5 Royal is certainly shaping up to be the definitive version of the game when it releases for PlayStation in Japan on October 19th, 2019, and in the West later in 2020.
