Atlus Reveals Persona 5: The Royal
And with the reveal, more questions!
03.23.19 - 1:45 PM

Following the recent finale of Persona 5 the Animation titled 'Stars and Ours,' a teaser commercial aired to introduce Persona 5: The Royal. Previously known only as Persona 5R, this teaser is indeed a teaser for another announcement next month, as more information will be coming on April 24th at the Persona Super Live concert.

While we got a very light teaser in December, today's is far more enlightening:

Thankfully, Gematsu has already provided a translation of the dialogue:

In it, a voice asks, "What do you think of the Phantom Thieves?" A new female character responds, "I think helping people is a wonderful thing, but if I had to say, I don’t like them. I don’t think the Phantom Thieves’ methods will make the world a better place or help anyone. In the end, I feel like you can only solve that yourself."

UPDATE: Never doubt the dedication of committed fans! Here's the teaser video with English subtitles:

Does this mean the character we see here is a new cast member, or could it mean that Persona 5: The Royal will follow in the footsteps of Persona 3 Portable and offer a female protagonist and new social link options? The other big question, of course, is platform. The Royal is stated to be an RPG (sorry, no P5 fighting game yet) and for the PlayStation 4, but with Joker's upcoming inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, surely Atlus is thinking about bringing this to the Switch too, right?

Hopefully we'll learn some of the answers to these questions on April 24th. For now, we can simply speculate, and check out the mildly-updated but still super-stylish Persona 5: The Royal teaser website.
