Gearbox Software has teased an upcoming announcement for long-awaited sequel, Borderlands 3, through a not-so-cryptic image posted to their official Twitter account. You can see the teaser post for yourself below.

As seen in the image, it seems we'll be disembarking on the appropriately named "Exit 3" on March 28th, which just so happens to fall on the first day of PAX East 2019.

Gearbox hasn't exactly been shy about their plans to carry on with the beloved "shoot and loot" franchise, with Gearbox president Randy Pitchford announcing during PAX South 2015 that the company was hiring talent to help with creating "the next Borderlands." Pitchford later made remarks during PAX West 2018 that Gearbox was "working on the thing I think most of you guys want us to be working on," meaning that what we're all expecting is highly likely.

Fans of Borderlands may also be excited to hear that Gearbox Software has posted a new image a new image which seems to be teasing Borderlands 2 for Nintendo Switch, which is also likely to be unveiled at PAX East.

The last numbered entry in the series, Borderlands 2, was released over six years ago in 2012 though there have been several spin-offs in the series released in the interim.
