Square Enix's third-person shooter/survival action title Left Alive is now available for purchase on PlayStation 4 and Steam. To commemorate the game's launch, some free cosmetic DLC is available: a collaboration with World of Tanks (which adds a World of Tanks backpack and posters), and a collaboration with Half-Life for the Steam version (which turns the player's crowbar into the iconic one from Half-Life. Although, how one can tell the difference between one crowbar and another is beyond me... sorry, I lost my train of thought).

Left Alive Out Now

Check out Left Alive's launch trailer down below, as well as a brief summary of the game from Square Enix.

Gaming industry veterans Toshifumi Nabeshima (director, Armored Core series), Takayuki Yanase (mech designer, Ghost in the Shell: Arise, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Xenoblade Chronicles X) and Yoji Shinkawa from KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS (character designer, METAL GEAR series) came together to develop the unique survival action shooter title. Shinkawa’s designs breathed life into each playable character, from the young Ruthenian staff sergeant Mikhail, to confident Nova Slava police force captain Olga, and ex-member of the rebel movement Leonid, who was framed for murder and sentenced to death.

Left Alive has gotten off to a rough start in Japan, with livestreams of the game being disabled seemingly in response to scathing criticism from within the gaming community. Still, given the game's connection to the long-dormant Front Mission franchise, I'm hoping this game does well enough to give that franchise another lease on life. Stay tuned to RPGFan for continued coverage of Left Alive.
