The Ni no Kuni games have always looked at home with anime, especially Studio Ghibli films. In fact, the studio animated the original game's anime cutscenes. With that said, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Warner Bros. Japan and Level 5 are teaming up to create a Ni no Kuni anime film!

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

The film will once again be set both in reality and the world of Ni no Kuni. The story focuses on three high school students: Yu, Haru, and Kotona. The three move back and forth between the two worlds after an event changes their lives forever. The "ultimate choice" will need to be made when Kotona's life is put in danger.

Many of the games' key staff are returning to work on the film. Yoshiyuki Momose, character designer for the games along with several Studio Ghibli films, returns to direct. The score is once again being composed by Joe Hisaishi, another alumni from Studio Ghibli. And Akihiro Hino, CEO of Level 5, is credited as executive director and scriptwriter. Lastly, OLM, a studio best known for animating the Pokémon series, will animate the Ni no Kuni film.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

More details about the film are expected to drop on March 23rd during the AnimeJapan 2019 convention. The film's staff and voice actors will appear to provide more details. The film will make its debut in Japan sometime this summer.
