Stardew Valley players on Nintendo Switch will be the first on consoles to have access to features like online multiplayer, additional single player content and much more when a free update arrives today!

Multiple players enjoying multiplayer in Stardew Valley on Nintendo Switch.

According to a new blog post by the game's developer, Eric Barone, this update will allow up to four players to experience the Valley together, either by starting from scratch or continuing an existing save file. The entire world of Stardew Valley, including story progression and all accumulated money, will be shared between all inhabitants, but each player will have access to their own cabin, private inventory, individual skills, achievements, collections, relationships, quests, and cooking/crafting recipes.

Additionally, players on Nintendo Switch will have options for communication either via the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app for voice chat or through the in-game chat box feature. Up to four players will also be able to connect for local multiplayer, though this will require that each person brings their own Nintendo Switch console and a copy of the game.

The brand new traveling festival, the Night Market, coming soon to Stardew Valley for Nintendo Switch.

A plethora of new single player updates will be added to the game, too, which will bring new character events, a new traveling festival called the Night Market, a new 'secret' type of collection for players to uncover, the ability to put hats on horses [Editor's Note: Clearly one of the most important additions.], and more — but you'll need to discover some of these features for yourself!

More information about when Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners can expect this update to hit their consoles will be coming soon. The Stardew Valley multiplayer update, version 1.3, will land on Nintendo Switch today!
