When Tales of Eternia released in North America in 2001, it got a new name. Since Tales of Destiny had come out recently, our version was named Tales of Destiny II. Since the Tales of games hadn't had direct sequels, it seemed like a safe change. Except, you know, when the actual Tales of Destiny 2 released in Japan in 2002. I don't know if the retitling of Eternia had anything to do with why ToD2 remains one of the only mainline Tales titles to not get Western releases.
That said, Eternia is a strong game on its own, and did quite well at the time! Come see for yourself tomorrow, when Scott debuts Tales of Eternia on our Twitch channel at 10am PST/1pm EST! Who knows, maybe you can convince him to keep playing the game beyond this single stream. (He probably will anyway, but that's all the more reason you should see the beginning)
