10.19.18 - 12:15 AM

An upcoming collaboration between the Pokémon Center and the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum will bring us a delightfully artful series of Pokémon cards and merchandise inspired by Edvard Munch's The Scream.

Set to launch on October 27th, the first card in the series will be Mimikyu, which will be followed later by four additional cards featuring frightened renditions of Pikachu, Eevee, Psyduck, and Rowlet. The full set, which you can see in the images below, will be made available until January 20th, 2019.

Mimikyu is haunted by its rival, Pikachu, in this Pokemon card inspired by Edvard Munch's The Scream.

Pikachu lets out a startled shriek in this upcoming Pokemon card featuring art inspired by Edvard Munch's The Scream.

Eevee howls in this Pokemon trading card inspired by Edvard Munch's The Scream.

Psyduck is haunted by a couple of familiar apparitions in this Pokemon trading card inspired by Edvard Munch's The Scream.

A spooky spectre lurks behind Rowlet in this limited edition Pokemon trading card inspired by Edvard Munch's The Scream.

In order to obtain all five cards, customers will need to make several separate purchases including buying an expansion pack from the Pokémon Center — though how to get your hands on the Pikachu currently card remains a mystery.

Merchandise such as keychains, postcards, face towels, and iPhone cases sporting these designs will also be made available for purchase beginning on the same day later this month.

This collaboration will also coincide with the launch of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum's retrospective of Edvard Munch's career which will mark the first time that The Scream and several other pieces from his portfolio will be on display in Japan.
