New Alternate Costumes Revealed for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Stop me if you've heard this one. Cloud, Link, and Pikachu walk into a bar... 09.19.18 - 9:13 PM I never before wondered how it would feel to be clotheslined by a Pikachu and now I can't stop wondering. Thanks to Source Gaming uncovering some new character renders from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (and for some reason getting the go-ahead from Nintendo to share them), we have some nie high-res art for several alternate costumes from the hotly-anticipated brawler. Hit up their tweet linked above if you want giant 12-20MB PNG images of the full lineup of artwork – which includes a fuzzy new "Crafted World" Yoshi, Wedding Tuxedo Mario and more – but we've added the relevant images to our gallery as well. Here are some of the highlights: Link (Classic Style) Ultimate will drop all the Twilight Princess art styles for the Zelda cast, and while Link will be sporting his blue tunic and look from Breath of the Wild, one of his alternate costumes will be something very familiar to longtime Zelda fans. Female Pokémon Trainer We've seen the male Pokémon Trainer's look in Ultimate with his red cap and yellow backpack, but I think the female version with her safari-ish hat and lemon messenger bag edges out her counterpart in style. Speaking of Pokémon... Luchador Pikachu This is a thing now. I don't know what else to say. Corrin Okay, this isn't an alternate costume, but in somewhat of a trend today, it's our first full render for a female Corrin. (Why no shoes, girl?) Ike Super Smash Bros. Ultimate up until this point has shown us a younger Ike. But if you miss getting dunked on by your friends by the Mack truck that is "Burly Ike," then you're in luck, cause here he is. (bonus for art fans: zoom in and check the level of detail on his clothing, especially the metal and leather) Female Robin Up until now, we've had screenshots showing the female version of Robin in SSBU, but it's nice to see a full render of her! This is another one with fantastic detail in the stitching of her outfit. Cloud (Cloudy Wolf) And finally, the one you've probably scrolled down to see first. Cloud looks positively (yes, I'm gonna do it) smashing (I regret nothing) in his Cloudy Wolf garb here. I love the pose, I love the razor-sharp details on his sword, and his hair is just perfect. Can we just get the Smash team to make that Final Fantasy VII Remake? They at least have the visual style down perfectly. |
