Developer MAGES. Inc and publisher Spike Chunsoft have announced that Steins;Gate Elite, the HD rework of the lauded visual novel, will be launching in early 2019 for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Serving as an updated version of the original 2009 release, Steins;Gate Elite seeks to meld original animation and the animation of the prior-released animated series of Steins;Gate to innovate upon the formula present in visual novels, which is that of static art and text. Steins;Gate Elite will use primarily animation within its scenarios, stopping the scene when a player is presented with a choice. These choices will lead to branching paths and endings, reminiscent of the original game and traditional to the visual novel genre. Check out the opening movie to Steins;Gate Elite below!

Alongside Steins;Gate Elite, MAGES. Inc and Spike Chunsoft are releasing unique bonus content for players who pick up either a Nintendo Switch version or a PC and PlayStation 4 version. For players picking up a Nintendo Switch version, they will receive 8-BIT ADV STEINS;GATE, an 8-bit graphics rendition of the original Steins;Gate, in all its retro-inspired glory. Check out a beeping and bopping trailer below!

For players picking up a PlayStation 4 or a PC version of the game, they will receive STEINS;GATE: Linear Bounded Phenogram, a collection of ten stories set within the Steins;Gate universe written by various guest writers, with a notable inclusion from Kotaro Uchikoshi, the scenario writer for the Zero Escape series.

Both of these respective additions will be given alongside both digital and physical releases of Steins;Gate Elite when it releases, at no additional cost.

Personally, as someone that has heard nothing but praise for this visual novel franchise, it certainly seems like MAGES. Inc and Spike Chunsoft are set on keeping their fans happy with upcoming and meaningful content in the days to come.
